High Protein Foods after Surgery

Protein intake is very important after weight loss surgery.

Protein is used by your body to heal wounds, maintain and grow muscle, repair organs, grow hair and skin, and for most cellular activities.  Because the stomach is so small and many types of foods that are high in protein are difficult to eat after weight loss surgery, it is important to know alternative sourses for you to get in as much protein as possible, especially in the earily period.

So try to choose foods high in protein like these

bulletSkim or Low Fat Milk
bulletSoy Milk (is lactose free)
bulletCottage Cheese
bulletEggs (the yolk is high in cholesterol so don't have much yoke)
bulletEgg Beaters ( no cholesterol and better choice)
bulletEgg Drop soup
bulletTurkey
bulletChicken
bulletFish
bulletBeans
bulletVeggie or Soy burger
bulletTofu
bulletChile (patients prefer wendy's)
bulletMeat ( the more tender the easier to eat)
bulletHigh Protein, Low Carbohydrate Bar (low calorie)
