Keys for Weight Loss Success

A Lifelong Commitment
Patients that undergo weight loss surgery must be commtted to vitamins and supplements, healthy eating, office follow ups, exercise, and support group attendance for life. Your emotional and physical well being is dependent on this commitment. Learn from your surgeon what is expected of you and make the lifelong commitment to maintain your well being.

Personal Responsibility
Studies show that patients who commit to eating healthy foods, taking the requited supplements, have routine blood work drawn, and incorporate an exercise program into their lifestyle have the best long-term rusults.

Proper Nutrition
Adhering to healthy nutrition after weight loss surgery is essential for long term success and weight management.

Support Groups
An integral part of the healing process, physically and emotionally. All patients are encouraged to incorporate a support group into their monthly schedules.

Exercise
In a reduced calorie state, the body's natural tendency is to use muscle for immediate energy needs. Therefore it is essential to incorporate a fitness program after surgery. Exercising at least three times (3X) per week conserves lean muscle mass, burns fat stores and achieves better long-term success.

Vitamins and Mineral Supplements
Vitamin deficiencies are predictable and preventable. Take your vitamins and supplements and commit to seeing your surgeon on a regular basis for lab work (CBC, B12, Iron, Iron Binding, Folate, etc) and follow up.
